Quantitative PCR (qPCR)
Real-time PCR or quantitative PCR (qPCR), due to its ability to provide rapid, specific and quantitative results, is often considered to be a gold standard technology. It allows you to determine the initial amount of DNA or RNA present in a sample.
Benefits of qPCR
- Absolute quantification.
- Highest precision and sensitivity.
- High throughput.
- Removal of PCR efficiency bias.
Starting material
Blood, cells, fresh, frozen or FFPE tissue, bone marrow, DNA, RNA, cDNA, …
Applications
We can design, validate and implement a wide range of qPCR tests, for many applications including:
- Genetic variation analysis: Genotyping allows the detection of genetic variations in the genome that can induce changes in phenotypes or pathological modifications underlying a disease.
- Gene expression analysis: this is the most common qPCR application. It measures the level of expression of one or more genes.
- Mutation Detection
- Detection of pathogens (viruses, bacteria, etc.) or parasites
- Detection of contaminating DNA in cell lines
Equipment
We utilize QuantStudio 5 and LigtCycler 480 qPCR instruments.
